THE LIBERATED WRITER
5-WEEK COURSE
May 5th-June 5th, 2025
Before you spend another dollar learning the latest marketing trend…
Before you dedicate another minute to chasing social media algorithms…
Let’s remember what truly matters: How you want your writing career to serve you.
You didn’t start writing to burn out, to measure your worth by word counts, sales figures, or review scores. You started because storytelling lights you up, because you have something to say.
It’s time to reconnect with that motivation.
The Liberated Writer 5-Week Course will help you step back, reset, and reclaim the joy, flow, and creative fire you once had. We’ll dive deep into what motivates you—not just as an author, but as a human being.
This isn’t about churning out another book under pressure. It’s about building a sustainable and nourishing writing career that will last—one that supports your mental, emotional, and creative well-being through the ups and downs of real life.
The time to reclaim your passion is now. Let’s make it last.
About the course
This course is created and facilitated by me, Claire Taylor, an experienced certified Enneagram coach who’s helped hundreds of authors build creatively and financially sustainable careers since 2018.
If you’re ready to step off the treadmill of hustle culture and reconnect with the core of who you are as a writer and a person, this course is your turning point.
We’ll use the Enneagram framework to help you deepen your self-knowledge and reconnect to your values and desires. From that place of clarity, you’ll finally be able to sift through the overwhelming list of “shoulds” in publishing and focus on what truly moves you forward in a productive and fulfilling way.
Let’s replace burnout, stress, and regret with clarity, joy, and sustainable success. You have the power to change the fate of your writing journey, and this course will show you how.
What’s included:
-
Every author who enrolls in the course will be sent the iEQ9 Questionnaire. Taking this questionnaire will determine with 95% accuracy your Enneagram type and subtype. This is the most accurate Enneagram assessment on the market, and I have confidence that it will clear things up, especially if you’ve taken other tests and felt unsure whether the results were accurate for you. The confidence we can have in the results of the iEQ9 allow us to stop wondering about type and start seeing how it shows up in us. As long as you complete the questionnaire prior to the course, you’ll get the most out of our five weeks together. If you’ve already completed the assessment, you’re welcome to take it again, but the results very likely will be the same. You can also opt out and save yourself the 30-50 minutes the questionnaire usually requires. Just let me know your preference.
-
This is the time when participants will be asked to read the material and watch the accompanying video(s) on that week’s topics. While I know we all live busy lives, folks will be best served doing this between Monday and Thursday of that week to keep pace with the class and use the live calls to the maximum effect. Expect the reading portion to take about 30-60 minutes to complete. Videos range from 5-20 minutes each.
-
Reflection questions will typically take 15-60 minutes to complete, depending on how deep you go and how much time you need to think. Reflections are designed to deepen understanding of the concepts and tie them into your writing career. They’ll also help you formulate questions you may still have to ask in the live Q&As. The authors who get the most out of this course are consistently the ones who complete all the reflections.
-
This is open to all students each week and takes place on Mondays at noon Central. We’ll spend 90 minutes together via Zoom to reflect and share those reflections on a weekly prompt. There’s usually also time to discuss the writing-related struggles you’re having that week. This is a wonderful time to learn not only more about yourself but also recognize how you fundamentally differ from other authors and why those differences are important. (pro tip: these discussions will help you write stronger characters!)
Note: If the call times don’t work for you, there will be replays available!
-
As you go through the weekly course material and respond to the reflection questions, you might have additional questions that arise. Every reflection form includes an opportunity for you to ask me questions that I’ll answer during our Thursday Q&As at noon Central. We’ll spend 90 minutes together via Zoom going over the pre-submitted questions and answering any other questions that folks bring with them or that arise during the session. If you are unable to attend the live calls, you can still submit your questions ahead of time through the reflection form and I’ll be sure to answer everything on the recording for you to watch back when convenient!

The
Enneagram Framework
If you’ve found this page, there’s a good chance you already know a little bit about the Enneagram, but here’s how it’s defined by David Daniels, M.D. and Virginia Price, Ph.D. in their book The Essential Enneagram:
The Enneagram is a powerful and dynamic personality system that describes nine distinct and fundamentally different patterns of thinking, feeling, and acting. […] These patterns determine what individuals of each personality type pay attention to and how they direct their energy and behavior.
The Enneagram is not a gimmicky test created my marketers to scrape email addresses. It’s been developed over many centuries, pulling shared wisdom and knowledge from a variety of traditions and teachings, and has been improved and refined by spiritual teachers, psychologists, and clinicians.
Learning which of the nine Enneagram types is dominant for you allows you to unlock the patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and actions that have influenced your life without you even knowing. By recognizing these patterns, you understand that you have been seeing life through a specific "lens" that filters out certain information, restricting your understanding of yourself and others, and causing you to repeat the same cycles.
However, if you want different results, you must try different patterns. To live a rich, wholehearted life, we must broaden our lens.
The Enneagram framework is a proven map for doing that.
Course Structure
During our five weeks together, follow a process that authors will be familiar with: the Hero’s Journey.
You’ve already completed the first three stages of this journey toward change when you felt like your familiar approach to life wasn’t getting you the results you wanted in your author career. You started in the Ordinary World of your usual ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving, and they worked well enough for you.
Then something changed. Something internally, something externally—either way, you feel the Call to Adventure, a call to try something new, though you might not know what that is yet. All you know is that things aren’t feeling the way they used to. There’s a restlessness you feel about your career. A new anxiety creeping in.
Choosing the familiar ways of being over the pain of the unknown, you’ve been Refusing the Call. Maybe things will sort themselves out and we don’t have to change anything about our approach, right?
Now here you are, reading up about this course, the Enneagram, and me (Claire). You’re Meeting the Mentor, who is urging you to continue along this path, to not turn back. You won’t be going at it alone. Steps 5-9 are what we focus on in our five weeks together so you can return to the Familiar World prepared to see it through new eyes and make the brave decisions needed to move your career forward.
Week 1
Cross the First Threshold
Discover the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral patterns that have been quietly guiding you in your author career… and where they might not be helping you any longer.
Week 2
Tests, Allies, and Enemies
Discover how your unique patterns have been benefitting and straining your relationships and making it difficult for you to build the reliable support you need for success.
Week 3
Innermost Cave
Learn to spot the signs that you’re acting out of fear rather than wisdom and clarity, so you can make the choices that finally move you closer to the author career you want.
Week 4
The Ordeal
Confront your blind spots to discover how they’ve been keeping you locked in the same cycles… and what fear has been keeping you from seeing them.
Week 5
The Reward
Create a bold plan to liberate yourself from what’s been holding you back by establishing personalized practices based on your new understanding of who you are, what you want, and healthy, productive, and sustainable ways of pursuing that.
Going forward…
The Return
The final three steps of your Hero’s Journey are for you to take on your own. You can bring friends along, but once we finish our five weeks together, it’s time for you to implement the strategies for yourself. No one else can complete your journey for you. But don’t worry, you’ll have all the skills and resources you need to return victorious.
About Your Instructor
Some know me as the owner of FFS Media and a fiction strategist. I was also the host of the Sell More Books Show, a popular weekly publishing podcast, for nearly three years. Or you might’ve seen me on stage somewhere, talking about the Enneagram for authors.
First and foremost, though, I'm a fiction author with 40+ books across multiple pen names.
My passion lies in telling a story that sticks with readers long after they finish the last page. And that amazing feeling compels me to help authors hold onto that passion and unlock a love for their gifts.
I’m a Certified Advanced Instructor of the Enneagram Spectrum of Personality Styles and an Integrative Enneagram Accredited Practitioner, both of which are accredited by the International Enneagram Association (IEA).
When I’m not writing my own fiction, helping authors align their career and stories to their core motivation is what I love to do.
I’ve designed this course so the insight you gain from it will guide you toward purposeful and passionate engagement with your career for years to come.
The only person who can stop you from writing is you. You’re also the only person who can keep you writing throughout the coming days, weeks, and years. This course helps you clear that path forward.
